I'd like to make a PDF of a PP presentation. I have Acrobat 5 and PP
2002 (Windows 2000 pro). I have tried using the "convert to adobe pdf"
pulldown in PP2002 but after about 10 seconds (2 bars) the progress
window freezes and nothing happens (well, I am not sure -- nothing
happened after 5 minutes waiting). I have tried by saving the PP show as
PP 95; PP 95/97/2002, and as pp2002 (with compressed pictures) but it
all worked the same -- or rather did not work. As PP95 the show is
about 20 mb (about 1.5 mb as PP 2002 with compressed pictures).

What am I doing wrong? Any ideas how to make this work? Thanks in advance

For starters, make sure you have Acrobat 5.05 (free update to 5.0) then try
this instead:

Open your presentation
Choose File, Print
In the print dialog, choose the Adobe Distiller driver.
Print.

Does it make a PDF?

Another thought: Is the process locking up or does it seem to complete and
just go away afterward? Distiller (or the acrobat buttons in PPT) may or
may not be set to automatically launch the PDF after it's created.

Tom, I just converted a 1.19mb Powerpoint presentation in
2002 to a PDF file. I clicked on the "Convert to Adobe
PDF" icon from the PDFMaker 5.0 toolbar. It did take a
while...and I thought my window freezes, but it didn't.
Make sure you're not running other programs while
converting the file.

What version of PDF File Maker do you have? I have 5.0 on
my system and the conversion came through fine. Give it
another shot by closing other running programs and make
sure you have version 5 or higher of PDF Maker.

Good luck!
