Is there a small .pdf viewer available. Am not a great fan of Adobe Acrobat
so would like a tiny app if possible. Have Googled but without much success.
Thanks for any help.

If you can't find what you're looking for, you can get older versions of
Acrobat here, which are much smaller and probably a lot faster as well..
might be worth a try.. http://oldversion.com/program.php?n=acrobat

I tried the program that Ceg recommended & it seems to do the job. I did
look at oldversion.com but wasn't sure whether Adobe Acrobat version 2 would
work on my XP machine?

I'm not really impressed with this as a viewer. It is slower to load
than Adobe, much slower to move page-to-page, and has a very annoying
flicker as it scrolls the screen Also, it printed the pages wrong
(too large), made mistakes on fonts and stripped out all the
bold-face.

The full version ($79) has all sorts of interesting tools for editing,
but I'm sticking with Reader 5 for now since I only need to view and
print. Too bad, I was hoping to have a reasonable alternative.

you only really need adobe 3 or 4 (preferably four) and both work on XP. 5
and above just add extra crap that slow the system down (esp. 6)

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll move back down to 4 and try it out.
I guess I can always reinstall 5 if I hit something that won't
display.

Adobe (Acrobat) Reader can be made load faster and reduce memory
consumption by taking some of program's plug-in additions out of
use by moving plug-in files to another folder. Instructions for it:

http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=11041

This trimming speeds up also older versions slightly.

....although there are some files created with security features in
version 5 and up that can't be read by 4.
