pdf problems

If anyone could help me that would be great. I tryed to
open a PDF file and it asked me which program I wanted to
use. I chose Word (not knowing this would not work) and
it all came up as gibberish. Now when I try to open a PDF
file it always opens it in Word and does not give me any
options to open in some other program. How can I change
this to open a PDF file where I can read it?
 
go to www.adobe.com and download adobe acrobat reader...it's free and you
would need it to open pdf files.

errata: adobe renamed its ADOBE ACROBAT READER to simply ADOBE READER.
