I have a Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 terminal server. My users create
PDF's using Adobe Acrobat v5. I am properly licensed for it. Its worked ok.
I've been reading v6 of Acrobat is horrible on terminal server. We have
tinkered with upgrading from v5 to v6 and see that on TSE it does appear to
have problems. Adobe now has v7 of Acrobat that seems to begin fixing things
on TSE. We also use and are properly licensed for desktop installed v5, 6,
and 7 of Acrobat. We predominatly use the print to PDF feature and have
mainly stuck with Adobe because it does a better conversion job (meaning
less user effort) it seems. ie, other PDF printers do the job but tend to
require to much user interaction making adjustments to get good results.
However, all in all we generally feel that Adobe Acrobat has been a poor
performing piece of software across the versions. The key issues we have are
poor technical support, no real bug fixes to speak of, bugs seem to be fixed
in new releases rather than interim fixes, occassional errors or failures
when printing to PDFs, and other general operating issues. The cost of it
for our experiences with it really doesn't make it any more attractive
either.

However, has anyone tried any of the other PDF printers/converters that are
now available and specific for terminal server? Could you share what you use
and your good or bad experiences?

The ones I see that look promising are pdf995, GetPDF TSE, deskPDF TSE, and
PDF4U TSE. Anyone using these in TSE with great results?
