I have recently changed from Win98 to WinXP (Complete clean install). Now, I
cannot open pdf files from a website. Acrobat reader 6 opens with it's
splash page, but does not open the document, no matter how long I wait. It
doesn't even do the "Loading & Certifying" scroll at the bottom. If I save
the pdf file I can then open it in Adobe Reader 6 OK.

Any ideas please?

Geoff.

I gave up on getting Acrobat Reader 6 to work within IE. It uses a BHO (browser helper object) to work in IE. Guess they screwed it up. I've heard other users complain about using Acrobat Reader 6 in IE. So, instead, change the options in Acrobat Reader to NOT open the document within IE but instead within its own window. I actually found that more convenient in that I didn't end up wiping out the web page where the link was so I could open more documents or navigate in IE while leaving the PDF document up and visible.

I can't speak for AR, but I have Acrobat 6 and it works just fine with IE.
In fact the BHO was the main reason I bought it.
