Simply copy it to the folder you want it in in Front Page (it will import
it). Then link to the pdf file from your web page. You can so this for
all applications incldinf MS word, Power point, text files, etc.
You can set the hyperlink for a new window or leave it at the default which
is _self
For .pdf files you don't really insert them..what you do is to import
the.pdf files into your web..create a link to the .pdf...when someone clicks
on the link it will open in Acrobat Reader. (While most people already have
the reader on their systems..it's also a good idea to create a link to the
Adobe site to get it for anyone that doesn't)

The answers above are good, but I notice that some really great sites
have a choice for either pdf or html viewing. I created a table with
3 columns and put the name in column a and the word PDF in b and the
word HTML in column c, then linked to the appropriate files in the 2nd
and third column. Very nice.
