Pam

ok, I'm at my wits end.....I have a word file that I print to a pdf
file...the word doc has bullets in it - when I convert it to the pdf file it
still looks fine - the bullets show up normal. However, when I import the
file o fp and then publish it to my website, I lose the bullets and they
turn into "?" marks. If I send the file to myself by email...and then open
it up - the bullets which are check marks turn into a hand with a pen in it
(which is fine) but when I publish the pdf file I lose the bullets.

the file is at:

http://www.mfqha.com/showbills.htm and then click on either June 25 or July
16 showbills ... both have bullets - both are ?marks instead of regular
bullets.

any help appreciated

thanks
pam

Not a FP issue, as FP doesn't read/open PDF files. Also the link you provide goes to a 404 page.

formatting?

and I'm sorry - the link I gave you was wrong -

go to http://www.mfqha.com and click on showbills on the menu - then click
on either showbill

Both of those pdf have the same name..are they the same really?

I suspect you may have a font issue when you generated the .pdf are you using Acrobat or one of the free or low cost pdf creator programs?

whoops, fixed that - and no, I'm using Acrobat ... any way to fix the font
issue from Acrobat?

ok...I resaved them to different file names ... redid the bullets..and at
least they are not showing up as question marks... my dots turned to
hands...but that's ok..

if I ever figure this out I'll let everyone know :-)

Try a different font for the area the bullets are in...could be a corrupt font, or the font you used doesn't have a bullet...not sure but I've had similar problems before..looks fine in preview then when printed it has a default font..wierd. Uninstalled the font, reinstalled it, works for a while then happens again, changed to a different font rather than messing with it forever.

Which font are you using for the bullets in the original document?

Not me...but it looks like:

Arial, ArialNarrow, ArialNarrow, Italic, *Symbol* (built in encoding), Tahoma Bold, Times New Roman & Times New Roman Bold...all Type 1 except Arial.

Do ya suspect Symbol?

I'll have to pop it open in the morning and see what I can see. It's late
and I'm a bit bleary eyed. :-)

The only thing I can see is that the font you used (Wingdings) is just an
embedded subset. What if you changed the settings when you create the .pdfs?
