Would you please let me know some detailed information and try some methods
so that we can narrow down the root cause?
First (general)
=========
Does this happen on other machines if you have more than one? Have you ever
tried Clean Boot (uncheck all of the startup programs) to see if the
problem remains? Create a new user account and log on with this newly
created account, see if the problem remains.
Does this happen when you open PDF files from other web site? Does this
happen when you open other files, such as .doc files?
Second (IE-related)
============
Try deleting all the temporary Internet files and resetting your Internet
Explorer to see how it goes. In IE 6 you may need to reset each part
manually:
1) Open IE, click "Tools" and click "Internet Options".
2) Click "Delete Cookies" and click "OK" when prompted to confirm.
3) Click "Delete Files" and click "OK" to confirm.
4) Click "Clear History" and select "Yes" to confirm.
5) Click "Settings", and then click "View Files". Delete all files in this
folder.
6) In the Settings window, click "View Objects". Delete all the objects in
this folder. If some objects cannot be deleted, please restart the computer
and try again.
7) Switch to the "Security" tab, select "Internet" and click "Default
Level" if it is not grayed out.
8) Clear the "Trusted sites" and "Restricted sites".
9) Switch to the "Privacy tab", click "Default" if it is not grayed out.
10) Switch to the "Content" tab, click "AutoComplete". Clear Forms and
Passwords.
11) Switch to the "Advanced" tab, click the "Restore Defaults" button and
then deselect "Enable third-party browser extensions".
12) Click "OK" to quit.
If it happens on the particular machine, please also try re-installing
Internet Explorer to see if it remains.
Third (Adobe-related)
=============
Make sure that you have installed the latest Acrobat or Adobe Reader
correctly and you have configured the Adobe Reader correctly. You may need
to contact Adobe company for more details on this:
Viewing PDF files in a browser:
http://www.adobe.com/support/products/readerviewing.html
Just for a test, you can try this:
Start Acrobat or Adobe Reader; click Edit -> Preferences; select Internet
in the list on the left pane; deselect Display PDF in Browser, and click
OK. Restart Internet Explorer to see how it goes.
Fourth (website)
==========
If this problem occurs on all of the machines, when you try opening any
files from your own website. Well, you may need to change the website's
page code. I am sorry to say that I am not good at this and you may need to
post in our IIS newsgroup or MSDN forum for more detailed information.
