Have 2 pc's each running Win XP Home. They are networked with crossover. I set up static IP on each machine and can share files but can't get on Internet with second machine. If I go in and change from static ip to obtain automatically, both machines can access Internet but can't share files.

Need advice and I don't understand what's the problem. Anyone got suggestions?

Don't use static IP addresses -- they can break Internet Connection
Sharing. Let XP manage the IP addresses automatically.

Configure the first machine as an Internet Connection Sharing host.
Configure the second machine as an Internet Connection Sharing client.
