I'm looking for a patch to restore my wireless capability.
I upgraded an old IBM Thinkpad 1300 - 1171 from WinME to
Win2000. Before I did this, the laptop worked fine on my
wireless network. Since then, and despite my having
installed all the IBM drivers required, the laptop won
connect to the network. IBM says the problem is solved by a
patch on the either the ME restore disk or on the the ME
hard disk in IBMTools. It's from Microsoft and is
pcmcia.sys. I don't have the restore disk (used laptop off
Ebay), and I hosed the hard drive installing Win2k. Does
anyone know how I could find that patch? If so, please let
me know at (e-mail address removed)
Thanks much,
sw

A WindowsMe patch won't help your laptop if it's running Windows 2000. I
would suggest that you hit the IBM Web site, and in the search box in the
top right-hand corner enter your laptop model number (like 2651-P4U or
something similar, should be on a sticker on the bottom). Select the first
returned search result and that will take you to the download section for
your laptop model.

Hy, thanks for your reply. I've tried that. Can't find the
patch. IBM says it's on the ME hard drive under IBMtools
(being an idiot, I formatted the drive before I knew about
this) or on the ME restore disk. Apparently it's quite a
common problem because IBM explains it on the IBM website/
