Hi all,
Can somebody suggest a video card for a pci slot that will run Vista Home
Premium?

X1300 is probably the least expensive way to go, $50. It has 128 MB of RAM,
which will let you run the Aero interface. It also has a dual-link DVI port
if you have an LCD display with resolution over 1600x1200.

Geforce 6200 PCI for $41. No dual-link DVI. 3DFuzion is the whitebox brand
of BFGTech, with 2-year warranties.

There are faster cards like the Geforce FX5500 for PCI, but the current
nVidia Vista drivers don't support it.

* First of One:
It also has a dual-link DVI port

Dual Link DVI is only needed for resolutions over 1920x1200, everything
up to that is Single Link DVI only.

Except over single-link DVI, the card will have to run in reduced-blanking
mode with resolutions above 1600x1200.

All cards of the last years (means: all Radeons and all Geforce cards
except some el-cheapo Geforce FX5200/5500 with buggy BIOS and some
crappy Matrox cards) do reduced blanking just fine...

Besides that, it's not that there is a choice: no display that uses
resolutions up to 1920x1200 uses Dual Link, so you're forced to Single
Link with reduced blanking there...

Benjamin

Yes, as were the cards I suggested. His choices are limited, but not
non-existent.

Thank you for your help. I didn't know PCI cards are still available.
