While shopping for a SATA raid card, I found one that requires a PCI-X
64bit, 66/100/133MHz slot. It has been a while since I have been up on the
latest PCI slots, what the hell is this? My new motherboard is an Intel
D875PBZLK and all the specs say is that it has a 133MBps PCI bus. Can
anybody give me any insight to this "PCI-X 64 bit" business? I don't
actually want this particular card but I would like to be more familiar with
the tech.

Any tip, links, or info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

64 bit PCI cards have been around for several years. The motherboards that
support them are typically found in servers and the cards themselves are
things like scsi and fiber channel. Asus for example, has many motherboards
available with 64 bit pci slots but they are on dual xeon boards and not
what you would find in the typical desktop pc. If you google 64 bit pci-x
you will find many links.

PCI-X is a standard that is exclusively used in the latest high end
workstations. It is NOT for consumer use.
