Hi.
Can anyone please help me with this? After booting up I get this message
about the pci simple communications controller not being installed. When XP
tries to install it automatically, it doesn't find the driver.Where is the
driver? Is it part of windows? I have a Soltek m/b with via chipset and
Celeron cpu. I have reloaded the via Hyperion 4 in drivers ,which didn't
fix this problem. I am also running an internal modem.
Any help will be appreciated.

Rob.

It a modem that you have.

Does your motherboard have a built in modem? If you don't need it, disable
it in the bios, if you do need it, get the drivers from your motherboard
manufacturer.

If it is not built into the motherboard, then you likely have an internal
modem that needs drivers. Same idea as above, if you don't need it, yank it
out, if you do need it, you'll need to figure out what modem it is, and then
get the appropriate driver for it and install it (make sure you have the
drivers for the correct OS)

Greetings --

"PCI simple communications controller" is usually the term the OS
applies to an unidentified modem. Have you downloaded and installed
the WinXP-specific drivers from the modem manufacturer's web site?
