I am trying to install my SuperVoice motorola 56K/V92 (or
SM56 PCI) modem on a Dell P2 400 computer. Windows 2000
Pro said the driver for this device is not "microsoft
signature approved".

Does anyone know where I can get an updated driver off
the Internet, as now I have no means of getting up on the
Internet since trying to install this modem caused a hard
drive crash.

I now have to reformat the hard drive, and the driver
that came with this modem is supposed to be compliant
with Win 2000 but obviously is not.

Not having certified drivers is not ususally a problem.

Look at the Motorola modem site - try a Google search.

I rather doubt that installing modem drivers "caused" the hard drive
to crash - perhaps screwed up your operating system.

If you _do_ have hard drive errors that is a separate issue. Your
modem will work in Win2k with a proper driver install.

Two things:
- the modem manufacturer's website should have the most recent
downloadable W2k-specific driver for the device, if in fact one is
available.
- often such a recent driver will not have the MS signature; it's almost
always OK to install it.
