I recently had to do a system recovery on my XP system and have had issues
since. At start-up, I get "new hardware found - APCI Multiprocessor PC"
message (I only have 1 processor by the way). If I try to install this
driver the system will not reboot. I've updated the Chipset Driver and the
BIOS. I'm currently running Service Pack 1. Windows Update does not show
the SP2 Download being available for my system. Any ideas?

don't have answer for acpi problem
you could turn of plug and play., or go into devmgmt.msc and disable the
relevant device in question mark. Btw some chipset drivers are Service pack
version dependent to install properly.

Good luck

There is no update avail for Sp1 users
for sp2 you can download yourself; once sp2 installed and passes validation,
you will get auto update option.

Download and install Service Pack 2 on a single computer:

Download and deploy Service Pack 2 to multiple computers

Download this version of Windows XP SP2 if you need to deploy it to multiple
computers over a network.
