This may be a ridiculous question but does a PCI Express video card fit in a
normal PCI slot? If it does and I think I'm having trouble with the video
card, I could replace it with a regulat PCI video card to test it. Correct?

No PCI-Express cards will only fit into a PCI-Express slot, new PC's out
within the last 6 months come with these. Best thing is to take it back
and replace it with a plain PCI based card.
