Here's the story:
I have pc that I sold to my next-door neighbour to cut it short it
annoyingly keeps breaking down. The most recent and annoying thing its doing
now is not displaying anything on screen at all but apparently running fine
behind the blank screen (no post beeps). I tested the graphics card and its
fine, swapped in another, still no display. I've swapped the mobo and it
started working so I replaced it and sent it back a job well done. Until it
came back with the same problem! I instantly thought psu knocking out mobo
(agp socket). So I changed the mobo and psu and still no display?!!!!!
Anyone else had similar experiences? Am I missing some thing?

Thanks.

Simon.

If I'm reading your description correctly it sounds like you've tested
everything except the display itself. Any chance that it might be the
culprit? I've certainly seen bad VGA connectors and cables show up in
some bizarre symptoms the least of which is a blank display.

Have you tried removing the mainboard and testing it on a non-conductive surface
? (wood, plastic, etc, but *not* a static bag)

It could be that when the board is flexed a certain way (maybe from
insertion/removal of cpu, cards, etc) that the motherboard tray is making
contact with the board and shorting something out..

Did you change the cpu as well, or just the mainboard ? It could be your
culprit..

Regards,
Chris
