pcAnywhere doesn't seem to start on it's own in win2003 server.

I have to manually start it up, but every time I reboot, it doesn't start
automatically.

Is this a new security feature in 2003? If so, what's the workaround for
it?

Thanks for any suggestions.

WinVNC had its own problems on WIndows Server 2003 when I tried. The
service would crash for no apparent reason.

In any case, Windows Server 2003 has Terminal Services, so why not use the
Remote Desktop Connection client for remote control?

That works great, but why suddenly doesn't pcAnywhere work on 2003?? Is
Symantec the next thing Microsoft knocks off the market? pcAnywhere is an
absolutely fabulous product. I'm used to using it, but now I seem forced to
use Microsoft's built-in solution.

Whatever...

I'm sure Symantec will add support for Windows Server 2003, if they haven't
already. Have you checked with Symantec.

Anything that integrates as closely with Windows as PCAnywhere could break
in a new release. I'm sure Microsoft did not conciously make a change to
stop PCAnywhere running. That would be counter-productive.

Does anything show in your event log to say why the PCAnywhere doesn't start
up?

Cheers

pcAnywhere 11.0 does not support 2003 natively, you need to run LiveUpdate for the latest patch, which does add 2003 support. It also fixes the automatic startup problem, which is part of the compatibility issue fixed with this patch. It's not available for direct download, you have to run LiveUpdate within pcAnywhere to get it (Help menu > LiveUpdate)

Good luck.
