At newegg they have 256mb sticks of Kingmax and Buffalo (at pc3500 and
pc3200). Suprisingly they're all in the same price range. Can anyone tell
me if one brand of Ram is better than the other? Also, would a 3500 be
better for overclocking than a 3200?

brand - dont know. both known makes though

3500 will be a better SYSTEM overclocker than the 3200.
ram tends to be the peice of hardware that konks out first.

if you go with 3500, your garanteed 433DDR (216fsb), and not the 400DDR
(200fsb) with the 3200.
this is espeically good for overclocking your CPU, as your not restricted to
200fsb (for the sake of the argument), you`ll be able to raise up to 216fsb.

long story short - go with pc3500

I don't think it's that simple e.g. bought some Kingston 'HyperX' PC3700
(466 DDR) and could only get 208 MHz (system bus) above that system would
crap-out. OTOH the RAM was only identified as PC3200 by SiSoft SANDRA and
AIDA32 so maybe I was ripped off anyway.

This was on a Gigabyte 7N400 Pro also I didn't notice any real increase in
performance (already running a 1700+ (1.47 GHz) @ 200 x 11 (2.2 GHz ~
2700+).
