pc2700 vs pc3200

I run a P4 2.4/512 at 2.88 (overclock 20%) on a P4P800 SE, very stable and
relatively cool (around 40 Celsius, during some games close to 60). I have
1GB of of 333/pc2700 on dual channel. Would the upgrade to pc3200/400 bring
any improvement to the performance of the system (FSB is running at 160)?

Any thoughts?

I doubt you will be able to run it DDR 400 dual channel at FSB160 due to the
dividers.
 
Your RAM is NOT running in dual channel while it has mis-matched RAM
modules. They must be IDENTICAL for dual channel operation.

They are absolutely identical 4 sticks of 256. And they are running in a
dual channel. They question was would the system benefit from a memory
upgrade from 333 to 400 Mhz.

Enter your bios menu. Check your ram settings. With a P4B/P800SE you have
options : DDR266, DDR333 and Auto.
No DDR400.
 
My fault, sorry.

There is a 4:5 divider, even that at boot up it says DDR333 dual channel.
FSB 160 would give you DDR400.

Here some benches at DDR 380 dual ch./

Everest:
3750MB/s read
1750MB/s write
103,7 ns latent

Not worth an upgrade in my opinion.
 
I don't think that it's worth the upgrade either. Why mess with a very
stable system.....you might regret it like I did many times......
