I thought in my vast knowledge that all computers were compatible, until I
attempted to add PC133 memory to a friends' computer which is PC100 oops!,
Bet this is gonna cost me? Hopefully not, GOT ANY IDEAS? any ideas what it
is that I might have done, the computer was loaded with Windows it now only
lists,
BOOT ERROR BOOT DISK required, I havent the foggiest idea what I should do
he's not home to tell me to chuck it or fix it....HELP.

PC133 memory should work on a 100 Mhz bus. Does the memory test pass when you start the computer? You probably knocked a wire loose or zapped something with static electricity. See if you can boot with a CD or floppy.

pc 100 and pc 133 work the same only pc133 slows to 100

PC100 = usually lower density, needed for friends mobo.
PC133 = usually not lower density, will show half-capacity, no post,
or other anomalies

Keep the PC133 out of the system, go into BIOS and write down the
user-configured settings, then power down and clear CMOS.

I read on the Crucial or Kingston or possibly PNY website that some
133 won't work on a 100 bus but didn't really understand the
explanation.
I had a similar start-up problem after a memory upgrade and it turned
out to be a loose power or ribbon cable. Not certain because I just
pushed on all connections before restarting again and it booted fine.
FWIW
