A couple minutes searching on HP.com finds the following info for the 7950
series, which should match your 7953 (no memory specifics were found for
that model)
Memory
Component Attributes
RAM (standard) 128 MB RAM PC133
Maximum 1 GB (2 x 512 MB DIMM)
Speed 100 MHz synchronous
Sockets Two 168-pin DIMMs
Size 64, 128, 256 and 512 MB DIMMs
Free DIMM Sockets 1
Pairs Required No
Type Supported SDRAM, Intel PC SDRAM unbuffered DIMM specification, revision
1.0 compliant
So, to get 512, you will have to remove the two DIMMs currently in place,
and substitute two 256s. There should be no problem using PC133 versus the
original PC100.
You could just replace one of the 128s with a single 512, giving you 640M.
