I'm not sure where to post this...hopefully somebody can
help...I installed Windows 2000 professional on a pc
designed for Windows 98...no problem until recently when
the machine froze up...the only way to turn it off was
unplugging it from the power pack...now it won't come back
on at all...I've unhooked and reattached all the cords and
still nothing...there used to be two buttons light up on
the CPU when I turned it on...now only one lights up, the
monitor says no signal is reaching it...I think it has
something to do with the sleep or hibernate mode but I
can't get the computer back on to do anything with the
power management mode. Any suggestions other than throw
it from a window??

No...normally it goes through its little process when I
turn it on, both lights come on, but nothing...it comes on
but that's it.

Are you able to boot with the win2k cd, you may have to amend boot up in
bios to boot from cd.
If you can this may give some help
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;238359
The two lights; one probably power, the other hd
If power light doesnt come on, then probably power failure
If hd light doesnt, could be hardware
If you are able to boot from wincd and procede with the repair process, you
will get further clues.

Okay, that actually helps a lot!!! I will reboot with the
CD and see if that helps. Thanks again!!! F
