PC won't boot up - getting POST beeps

Old Fujitsu system (P200, M5ATC motherboard, ATI Rage II video card).

Press power button and get one long and two short beeps, a bit of
activity on the CD, floopy and hard disk for a second or two and then
nothing. No signal on the monitor.

The monitor works fine on another similar PC, as does the video card.
I've also moved the video card to another PCI slot - same symptoms.

Took the battery out for 20 minutes, no change. Used the jumpers to
clear the CMOS data, still no change.

Is there anything else I can try? Or do I just consign it to the
rubbish heap.

Symptoms appeared after a 4-port Belkin USB PCI card was partially
installed and an attempt was made to add the missing driver. It read
the driver from the CD then asked to remove the CD and re-boot - then
just got the beeps as above.

The consensus seems to be a Video failure however.

Reseat or change RAM. But this is a very old computer indeed. Don't
spend much money on it.

Its likely a video card error beep, but the beeps vary with the bios.

Try reseating the video card, it may have got
disturbed a bit when you put the USB PCI card in.

video.

The card, cable and monitor work fine on an other similar PC. Memory
has been in and out several times, again, works fine on the other machine.

Does this mean that something is "broken" in the motherboard?

I'm afraid so. If all the parts are verified as working on another
machine. It's a 8+ year old machine, It was time.

It can do. I have seen one PC with an intermittent short to case that
produced that effect, it whined about the video card even tho that was
fine. The proof that it was an intermittent short to case was that it was
always fine with the motherboard loose on the desktop.
 
Again, many thanks for your input.

For info, I managed to transplant the hard disk into the other similar
PC and was able to get it up and running again with a small amount of
re-configuration.
