having problems with pc, sometimes when i turn pc usauly
in the morning (from cold)the pc won't boot up. have to
restart it 4 or 5 times to get it to work.
once working i can usualy turn it off and back on again
no problems.
when it does not boot up i get constant beeping noises or
no noises at all and sometimes get constant beeping, with
some distorted beeping noises.
Yesterday when pc had been on a few hours while i was
playing a game i noticed a bit of slow down on game which
i normaly have no problems with. turned off pc and turned
it back on again and could not get it to reboot. so left
it for 20 minutes tryed again started no problems.

is this a motherboard problem as it is only a month old
(had to have old motherboard replaced due to fault under
warrenty)
but my warrenty has now run out, but the new motherboard
must have some warrenty on it from installer just want to
make sure its the motherboard at fault.

thought it might be memory as i have 2 256 DDR sticks in.
tryed taking 1 out, swapping them for each other, moving
them to a different socket. still get problem.
not tryed any new memory sticks in it as i have non spare.
any ideas what it could be.

Hi,

I would suggest you to check all the internal devices
connections, especially for the vedio card.
Make sure all the cables (including the 12V power cables)
are not losen and all the devices are sitted properly and
firmly into the slots.

Also, your vedio card may be too hot after playing games
for hours. Make sure the ventilation is adequate inside
the chassis. Add a chassis fan and add heatsinks on the
ramchip of the vedio card may be helpful.

hi
i dont think its a heat problem. as i mostly get a
problem from a cold start.
graphics card has a heat sink fitted.

Ade,

You have 2 problems:
1. Cold start problem
2. Vedio card problem

For Q1:

How cold is your room, below 0 degree C or freezing?
It should not be any problem on cold start at room
temperature unless your PC have hardware(s) problems.
Pls refer to my suggestions to trouble shooting the
problems on cold start. As you said, you heard beeping
sound during startup, it is the warning signal from BIOS
during POST, different beeping sound stand for different
hardware problems. It may not be caused by faulty hardware
(s) but may be the cause from the internal/external device
(s) that may be losen or not connected properly/firmly.

For Q2:

Heat will build up after long hours using of PC.
Although you have heat sink on the vedio card, if the
ventilation inside the chassis is no good, it would cause
over heat problem on the vedio card. Also, the dust
accumulated on the heatsink would deteriorated the
efficiency of the dispensation of heat.
My vedio card has heatsink and fan and it still has
overheat problem after long hours of gaming in the summer
time. I have added heatsink on the ramchips and have 6
chassis fans and now no more over heat problem for my PC.
