I am looking for books that go thru step by step
with color pics and explanations how to remove and
install PC components and upgrade and repair PCs and
install networks etc.

I have the Mike Myers A+ book, but its too big too heavy
too conspicuous to carry with me when I am called to do something.
There is too much history of this and that, too much info on old
PC technology.
I am looking for something like those PC novice or smart computing mags,
something I could put into my briefcase.

Maybe, there are such books published in carryable volumes instead
of one with 1500 pages.

If you are working on other folks computers and worried about what they
think and have to rely on a book, you really shouldn't be in their computer
in the first place.

brilliant response!
so I suppose you memorized the entire Mike Myers book? all 1500 pages of it?!

hmmm...I think I remember seeing a post in newsgroups some time the other
day....Of course, I think it was in alt.binaries.ebooks.techinical

Download and burn it to cd...You then just get to carry your laptop around
and then you look like you know what your doing pecking at some keys rather
then reading a book. Laptops weigh much less then 1500 page books these
days....

But then again, if your using aol, I doubt that aol carries binaries...

No... I just know how to upgrade computers. If I need a 1500 page book to
work on a PC, I wouldn't be mucking inside other folks computers.

ouch...

hehe
Good Point...
