Once again, My Vista 64bit PC failed to startup this morning.

There were two files this time:

windows\system32\winload.exe

windows\system32\config\system

0cx00000e9

By starting in Safemode and running msconfig and stopping some startup
programs, The system started but ran chkdsk and it repaired some issues.

Possible Hard disk failure on the horizon?

Gary

Could be, did you try booting from the Vista DVD, and choose Repair PC > and
from the System Repair Options > run the Startup Repair option?

Thanks Andre...Yes, I have done this several times in the past two weeks,
but today I did not have to go this far.
For some reason, just by starting up in Safe Mode and entering MSCONFIG to
disable some programs from starting up, (Office, Works and a few others), it
restarted but ran chkdsk.
Chkdsk did find errors and repaired them, which leads me to believe that a
HDD failure maym be emminent.

Regards,
Gary

I'd run a drive diagnostic tool from the manufacturer, Gary, to rule that in
or out. I'd also run a memory check (the one that's in Vista isn't too bad,
but I still prefer one that runs from outside the OS on bootable media).
