pc to pc chat across home lan

Hi
I'm looking for a program that I can use to chat across my network.
Something like post it notes displayed on the desktop would be fine. I
haven't a clue where to look or what to look for or perhaps there's
something in my win 2k machines that'll let me do it already. Any advice
would be greatly appreciated.

you could try, winchat.exe , which is available in windows\system32 folder
