pc to mac version

My powerpoint mac version (2001) can not find image slides
from a PC saved file. Is this a common problem?

I've tried saving out as 95 and 97 versions from the pc,
all that is displayed is the red "x" or a black slide.

If opened from a PC machine though, all slides are viewed
correctly.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

William- Here are the recommended memory configuration settings to run
PowerPoint for OS 9.x and below: program-specific memory allocation
increased to 148MB min, virtual memory enabled and set to 1MB more than
physical memory. These are from Mac Central.
