hello

I was wondering.
I have bought a new system to assemble by myself,
but now I see that there is no pc speaker. I mean the
standard bieb bieb speaker you hear at startup.
Is this really necessary

thx

If you don't need it -- as when your system boots normally and works the
first time then you probably won't miss it and it certainly isn't needed for
normal operation. Sadly, if the system does have problems booting and the
BIOS tries to give you information via "bieb" codes then you are going to be
in trouble. Have you checked to see if the motherboard actually has a
noisemaker built in? Some come with little units not much larger than a
pencil eraser which will suffice for troubleshooting.

thanks

I Did not found a speaker (if you wanna know, mobo: Epox 8rda3+).
I think I will walk to my dealer tomorrow to buy me one. Like you
said, if for example there's a problem with my video card I will hear
that's the problem (3-4 rapid beeps).

It's not necessary for the PC to work, but it's nice to have if the
system doesn't work right after assembly -- the BIOS beep codes, if
there are any, might give you clues. Are you sure it doesn't have
one? Some cases use a small peizo speaker, which is really quite
small, and doesn't even look like a speaker.

Anyways, if you really wanted one, it's not hard to put one in
yourself. You just need to pick up a small 2 or 3 ohm speaker, two
lead wires, and the connectors (don't know what those are called).
All of which are available at radio shack for about $10 or less.

Most of my MBs have been so intellectually challenged that they
can barely beep sensibly so I wouldn't trust anything they say... ;-)
