I moved and my PC was working great until the move and now as soon as I
turn it on within 5 minutes it shuts itself off. I have a Dell
Dimension 2350 running Windows XP with service pack 2 if this helps and
I also run PcCillin for virus control. Any suggestions ? I can't keep it
on long enough to do much with it. Thanks for any help. Hugs, Mary B.

Unless the computer was physically re-packed into its original
shipping container with all of the padding and separators, moving
can cause internal damage. Open the computer case and verify that
all of the components are properly seated in their sockets. Check
that the heatsink and its fan or ventilation system is functioning
properly since the symptoms are characteristic of an over-heating
CPU. Do the same for the chassis ventilation fan, if one is fitted.

Mary you should check your event log to see if you have any consistent
errors causing your PC to shut down. They should be marked with a red
exclamation mark.

Go to Start->Settings->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Event Viewer

Check each of the logs and look for red exclamation marks around the
time your computer shuts down. Then post the results to us.

Thank you all so much for your help. I found out the problem, my
daughter had downloaded a program called Virus Shield and when I
uninstalled it my problems stopped. So please beware of this download.
Thanks again for all the help. Hugs, Mary

Perhaps a fan isn't working right and it's shutting down due to
overheat. The move could have knocked a wire loose.
