PC seems slow

I have two pcs that is connected via a linksys WAP router. One PC is wired with a CAT5 cable or regular network cable to the router and the other machine is wireless. The PC this is wireless seems very slow and the signal is never less than good. Can a signal show good but still lose lots of packets? The ping on the wireless PC seems faster than the other PC. Would there be a network setting? Any suggestions would be helpful.

How far from the WAP is the computer that uses the
wireless connection? Also, which wireless standard are
you using? Wireless connections aren't as fast as the
10/100 wired connections yet. This could be contributing
to it.
