Joyce

I have Vista Home Premium.

My PC has recently started running a lot. Sometimes it runs for 1 min. and
stops for 1 min. then starts again, does this over and over for a long
period of time. Sometimes it runs constantly. Other times when it is in
sleep mode it just runs constantly also. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hi Joyce,

When you say that your PC is "running", are you referring to a flashing
light on the machine? This is probably the hard disk access LED which is
simply indicating that the hard disk drive is being used. This is quite
normal for Vista as it likes to index your files when it's not doing
anything in particular to make your machine faster to use overall.

You will probably find that this activity reduces over time but will never
completely stop.

Is this what you meant by "running"?

Mine doesn't do that in sleep mode. In fact, there's not much activity even
when I'm using it.
