pc response

Have Dell PC 4400 WITH 512 ram. Desktop applciations are
WORD, EXCELL, and AOL. Not any real large programs. 70%
DISK IS FREE

PC use to be real fast for first 6-9 months. Recieved a
lot of POP up's, SPAM..

PC is now extremly slow. Takes for ever to open a
application. I have defragemented the HD.,scaned for
virus using NORTON and NOADWERE. Still slow.

Been told to review MSCONFIG and look to see what programs
are loading. HELP !!!!!

Any suggestions and directions how to reslove this
problem.

Hi,

Did you use Spybot to remove the trojans and spyware which are responsible for the slow down.

Also update your virus scanners and check the boot sector for virus. Remove unwanted programs from the start up folder so that they are not launched during boot up.
