I want to receive music on a dss satelite system and burn the music on
my pc. I have a Aptiva 475 mhz, 40 gb hard drive and 256 meg of
memory. Is this fast enough. I have to buy a sound card and burner.
Any suggestions
thanks

That's cutting it fine,

A friend just asked me to set him up with a CD burner for backups.
HE has a 500MHZ celeron and I told him it it may not burn relaibly
but he said he's take the risk.

I got him a TDK burner with Nero software and it burns fine, They
seem to have gotten the underrun protection down right.
If you put a burner on your system make sure nothing else is
running when you urn.

His machine is too slow to play music CDs. It stutters.

I was doing it on a 586/133 fine. In spades with the P200
after that. And that was with the pre burnproof burners too.

Corse they have.

That aint necessary.

Bullshit. It hasnt been setup properly. Even 486s will play music CDs.

Nonsense. I have burned CDs on a 486/66 with 16 megs RAM and without
burnproof.

Rubbish. Any machine will play music CDs.

That's plenty fast enough to burn CDs.
