PC Reboots When Loading Software

Hi all. I have a very odd problem and I'm hoping someone
can give me a clue as to what is going on.

I was having a problem with my PC locking up and rebooting
so I decided to reformat on my old 20 GB drive. After I
formatted I did a few hours of rebuilding what I wanted
and things ran without any hitches at all. Right near the
end, after loading the last few "small" Windows Updates
(ie the "download by itself" type downloads were all done)
I discovered that my PC would sometimes reboot when I was
loading software from CD!

It doesn't happen all the time, just some of the times,
and with various software packages.

I stress tested my entire system with no errors showing.
My old drive was looking a little rough so I bought a new
80 GB drive just in case. (Good justification to the
wife!) So again I reloaded everything. This time I loaded
up the big stuff like Visual Studios .Net first and there
were no hitches. But again near the end after loading the
last few windows patches it rebooted on my next software
load from CD! This is after loading many programs from CD
prior to this.

Does anyone know if one of the windows patches can cause
this problem? I think hardware is probably not a factor
since I have a new drive and if it was my CPU, RAM, or
motherboard it would probably be happening in more than
this one situation.

Here are my specs:

Athlon XP 2000+
512 PC133
80 GB Maxtor 7200 RPM 8MB cache (brand new)
MSI Geforce 4 Ti 4200 (Latest Nvidia drivers)
Audigy 2 (Latest drivers)

Windows XP fully patched

Hello

Well can of hard to say but maybe consider maybe it could
be your power supply or maybe even a driver, what if you
did not load the last few updates does it work fine.
