hi guys, I have a problem with my PC and I dont know whats up. It was working fine this morning at my house, but when I arrived at a mates house and pluged it in, the pc would power up but the monitor wouldnt show anything on the screen nor would my USB mouse/keyboard light up showing any sign of life.
My spec is Asus P5KC mobo, HIS 2900, E6750, 2gig ram, and two hdd one is 160gig the other is a 320.
I did get the 320 today and I didnt check it at my house if it was working as I was in a hurry.

open it up and check everything is seated correctly also unplug the new HD and try again

what rating is your PSU ? you have a power hungry card and i'm assuming your PSU is more than adequate

Did either of the hard drives work at your friends house? its possible you may have knocked the components out of place.

Mes' PSU idea is probably the best bet

The orginal hdd worked fine, I have the corsair 620w psu.
I have taken the graphics card out and tried my friends, we have tried flashing the bios, not heard a beep at all. so all the componats are in correctly.
At the moment we think its the mobo thats gone

I have the same PSU (good choice!) and its more than enough for that system. :)

Reset BIOS? Try the memory in another pc and run memtest.

Also try booting the pc with nothing plugged into the mb, not even the RAM it should beep.

I recently had a 1gb stick of GeIL go bad on me, it wouldn't let the pc boot at all...

Good stuff, i suggest you also run memtest or Orthos blend test for a couple of rounds to make sure its ok. :thumb:

Running Memtest now, thanks guys.

Another question though, is it possible to plug in my old SATA drives and get the data onto my new ones? The way i thought I could do it results in me having to format the drives (from computer management) But I'd like the data. If not then can anyone suggest another way? I'd rather not transfer 200gb with DVD's either :P Nor do i have extra cash to buy external HDDs.

Cheers for your help again :)
Harry

Can you not plug them up to the SATA 3 and 4? They are the black ones, (slave). Have a look at page 2-32 in your mb manual.

Thats how i do it on my P5B Deluxe. :thumb:

So they aint seen at all? Have you checked they are seen in BIOS?

They are seen, but when i try to access them it was me to format them :(
