Have upgraded my PC last week to XP & after having problems with my old internal modem ( couldn't get the modem speaker to disable even though all my settings told it to!) I installed a new modem

This has got around the modem speaker issue, but now every time our phone rings our PC powers up & I cannot find out why. If someone could point me in the right direction I would be really grateful.

My suspicion is that the option Wake on Ring in your MB Bios is enabled

Sometimes you can find an option in the bios for Wake on Ring. I suspect
that that option is enabled. Only a guess, though.

DO

Ignore me, I was having a mad moment. I have figured out it is the BIOS causing this problem.
