I recently put a 1ghz AMD Athlon cpu into my pc, but
there is a problem. After about 30 mins use, it cuts out,
but the power stays on. No signal is sent to the monitor
and I cant turn it back on for about 10-15 mins. I guess
the cpu is over heating, what's the best way to combat
this? What's the standard heatsink/fan I should be using
for this cpu? Is it worth buying an additional fan of
some sort?

Joseph.

Most popular brands of motherboards have a "health" screen in the BIOS.
It will show the cpu fan speed if your heatsink fan has a speed sensor, and
cpu temperature. Some have a adjustable setting and when that temp is
reached it will shut down the pc. If your's has this leave it in the bios
screen and watch the cpu temperature. It sounds like you have some sort of a
heat related problem. Heed the pevious poster's recommendations.
