Hi,

I have a PC I use for development. It is P4 2.4 GHz, 512 MB RAM, 40 GB HDD
and WinXPPro, with all service packs and MS updates installed

For several days, it have becabe quite slow (sometimes, even if I type
something in notepad or any other simple editor, I see the cusror seems to
freeze, and I have to wait for several seconds to make it move)

I have scanned the PC with my regular antivirus , which is daily updated
over internet), and with another on line virus scanner, but didn't find
anything wrong so far.

I have IIS installed, (beside some other development tools), and I access
the Internet through a router with NAT support (the web server is available
from internet on port 8890 instead of 80).

Does anyone have any thought about what can be wrong?

Thank you for all suggestions.

Regards,
Bogdan

I had the same problem a while back. I was ready to do a
complete reinstall, then I ran Adaware and all was fixed.
Not sure if it will fix your problem, but you never know
what has gotten into your system. I am very cautious
about that stuff and it got into mine.

Ms updates do not keep your computer from becoming s l o w
more likely they are the cause!!!

I know this is the cause sometimes.

However I not install "blindly" everything MS send, I look over their
decriptions, and I installed everything that was security related.

I can see them all in Add / remove programs.

Is there any patch like that knowing to slow down the PC?
Since I could unsintall it (at least I can try).

Regards,
Bogdan
