Not all the time, but more often than I like my PC will freeze every 20 sec
for approx 27 sec. I have not been able to correlate it with any program
running. it usually starts a restart but I can correct the issue by
restarting my computer a second time. Although I can correct the issue I am
still concerned as to why this be happening at all. Any ideas/suggestions?

Thanks, Bob

Are you running any sort of memory management software per chance?
I found this was happening to me at times as well until I removed the stuff.

Memory management? As in "GOBACK"? I has been on my PC since I added
"Norton System Works" a year ago. The freezing is only a new thing,
occasionally, and corrected by restarting. Could it be result of a glitch
with this?

Memory management: as in HIMEM.SYS with EMM386.EXE, or QEMM (from years
ago), or anything else similar.

A possibility is that you've picked up a virus, Trojan or spyware. I'd
suggest that you try scanning for them.

I did a Norton Anti-Virus scan and thankfully nothing appeared, I did
update for sasser before the scan.

With regards to memory management program, I did a "search" and located
"himen.sys"
in "C:\Windows\system 32" does this cause problems?

Try ad-aware, or equivalent, to check for spy bot programs?

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

yip I run that regularly. This problem does not happen everytime the
computer runs, only occassionally.
