My friend has a brother multi function device mfc-8860dn (print/scan/fax)
that can also do pc-based faxing (i.e. it behaves like a fax modem on your
pc).
The software installs a driver on the pc that looks like a fax printer.
However, the manual says the user has to be an administrator to use it.
Is there a way around this? We want the office assistants to send faxes, but
we don't want to give them administration rights on the computers.
The only way I can think of right now, is to setup the fax on some PC in an
administrator's account, then share out the fax printer for the office
assistant's pc to use.
Has anyone tried something like this? I only have access to the office once
a week, so I want to make sure the solution will work before I go over
there.
All PCs are running windows XP, of course.
