Hi,
My Pc recently stopped working one morning. The LCD monitor displayed
the message no video input.
I checked all connections - all ok.
I've replaced monitor - Same thing happened
I've taken graphics card to shop to check - they said it was fine.
(however I did no see this for myself)
I have purchased new motherboard(Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000g S478 ) for old
(Gigabyte GA-8i848PG S478) - Still the same.

Help?? I still think it could be the graphics card, I did take it to a
shop and i did state that I would purchase a new one if it was faulty.
So for them to say it wasn't was not getting them a sale. So hmmmm

To add, About 3-4 weeks before this happened i added 512mb of memory.
It worked fine. However I did try taken it out and trying it. Same
thing happened.

I'm not to concerned about the PC, it whats on the hard drive thats
important to me. I haven't touched it, Do you think that the data on
it will be lost or ok??

Many Thanks

Lee

Ummm, it sounds like your CPU is possibly not completing POST procedure, or
power on self test. AFTER POST procedure, your graphics card would be
initialized. When the graphics card is initialized, the monitor should wake
up and you should see various BIOS splash screen messages before the OS is
booted. After the OS is booted, then you see Windows screens (assuming you
are running windows).

But if you are not getting as far as POST, then either your CPU or your
Power Supply is dead. Of those two, the Power Supply is the more likely
suspect, by far. Since this appears to probably be a socket 478 system, I'd
suggest you try one of the following:

Good brand, relatively cheap, should be enough power for you. Note that I
don't know for sure that your power supply is dead, but that's the first
thing I would have suspected, given your symptoms. And it's good to have a
spare power supply on hand, anyway. Power supplies are frustratingly prone
to failure. -Dave

Dave gave you good information, but he forgot something important...
your data will be fine.

You're forgetting one more possibility: garbage power supply. Just
because it can spin the fans doesn't mean it can power the system.
That's what I'd have tried first, it is the simplest thing to check,
and a computer will still do something without a video card. Pull the
video card and see if you get any beeps, if you don't, the video
definitely isn't your problem.

Thanks Guys,
I'll give it a go. I was thinking that the power would be ok as th
fan on the motherboard kicked in. I'll perhaps try and borrow on
that I know is working to test it
