pc does not recognize cd.

When I try to copy files from a floppy and insert a cd, it says (after the cd is already inserted) "insert cd". I cannot write files to a cd- even tho cd is in pc, it keeps saying insert cd in drive. ANYONE who can help me would me appreciated, I have files I need to copy to a cd. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

I assume that you are running XP in which case XP will not allow direct
burning to a CD
However I have found if you format your CD first you can burn directly
