PC Creeping Slow

I am running Win XP Home, but my PC is really really
creeping, can't even open some programs. One or two
Internet-based diagnostics programs point to a heavy
invasion by spyware. How can I remove this or any other
threats to good performance and make sure I maintain my
PC free of these pestilences afterwards?

Spybot S&D and HijackThis, both free, are the best choices to diagnose
and protect you from spyware and other malware. SWI Forums is the

Search for Spybot-S&D, it will find, remove and immunize

along with this, these two programs (free) will help stop
spyware installation
