Thank you, and I guess I should have added, a) I am pretty sure the
drive is good, and b) I dont have a clue how to slave?

All you have to do is put it on the ide ribbon...
just be sure it's properly jumpered.
BTW: If the machine crashed...maybe there's an easy fix...

Like, just turn it back on again! A crash is a software problem, windows
will tell you what crashed, or will just carry on like nothing happened!
