My computers clock keeps running fast, can you tell me why this happens and
what I need to do to correct this problem. It resets to right time when I
turn pc on in AM. I have a Dell pc with XP SP2. 2 yr. old. Thank you.

Might need the CMOS battery changing .

Wouldn't a run down battery make the clock run slow. Reports in Google
seem to indicate that Running fast can be a problem with Dell computers.

That's why they have NTP or Network Time Protocol to keep your time correct.

Before anyone whose clock is running slow rushes out to buy a new
battery, he should first take note of whether he is losing time while
the computer is running or while it's powered off. If it's while
powered off, the problem *is* very likely the battery. But if it's
while running, it can *not* be the battery, because the battery isn't
used while the computer is running.

If the clock loses time while running, try this:

Open a command prompt window (Start | Run | cmd) and enter the
following commands:

net stop w32time
w32tm /unregister
w32tm /register
net start w32time

Wrong TIME zone Maybe

I doubt the time zone makes the computer clock run fast.
But I recall that Dell had some problems with the accuracy of the clocks in some models several
years back.
I would search the Dell web site for clock timing problems for your model.
You did not say what the model number was.
