I downloaded PC-Cillin 2004 from their site (32.0 megs) but can't seem to
get it installed. When I open the installexe program, the dos window
flashes open and immediately closes. Nothing installs. Anyone have any
ideas? Thanks.

You haven't given us enough information. Typically, when you open that
installer, it places a setup folder in C:\Program Files\TrendMicro. The
setup file in that folder should begin the final installation process,
but obviously something is amiss. Check first to see if you have the
above folder on your system. If you do, try manually executing the
setup.exe file in that folder.

1. What OS?
2. Do you currently have an AV and/or firewall installed and running
resident?
3. Do you suspect you have a malware or spyware issue?

It would be good to know the above.

I have a new Asus P4P800E Deluxe with a P4 3.0 and a new install of XP
Pro. I have no other antivirus or firewall software installed.
I also searched and cannot locate a Trend Micro folder anywhere.

So what happens if you run it from an already opened DOS (CMD) window?
At least that way you might get to read the error message. Possibly the
download is corrupt, possibly you aren't an administrator .. you really
need to see that error message!

1. Check again for folder TIS11 1131. It may be in a temp folder
somewhere. If not......

2. Empty the temp folder in C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Local
Settings and try again.

3. Try downloading the installer file again. Your download may be corrupt.

4. Some malware will keep AV utilities from installing. You may want to
do on-line scans at http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and
http://www.kaspersky.com/scanforvirus to make sure you don't have an
existing issue.
