This program has great reviews. But, I need to know if the program
can be used more than a year if I format my Hard Drive. Trend Micro's
website hints that the Activation code can only be used for a year and
then expires, and it is their servers that keep this information not
my PC.

Anybody know for sure?

Yes. But after that period you can manualy update pattern file and engine.
