The free update period on my PC-Cillin 2002 is now up and I have to
either upgrade to the 2004 or get another program. I have been running
NOD32 for a few days and I would like to hear some opinions on it and
other programs before I decide on my next AV program.

Thanks
Mike

Definitely go with Nod32. Both are a bit lackluster when it comes to
non-replicating malware, but typically nail the VB100. Nod32 would be far less
resource intensive and a faster scanner.

I personally like PC-Cillin. I'm not certain its firewall is as good as
other choices (I need to do some testing when I get the time), but I believe
the AV product is excellent.

The tests I've seen, PC-Cillin does quite well against non-replicating
malware.

NOD32 has been working ok so far, it has stopped many files with
WIN32/Swen.A, but today I seem to be getting the same problem I had
with PC-Cillin, if the mail scanner is running Outlook express stops
downloading before all the mail has been received. As with PC-Cillin
OE worked with the scanner for a while before the problem started.

Is there any way of getting all the email without turning the mail
scanner off?

Thanks
Mike

I tested the both and I advise you to run Pc-Cillin
NOD 32 have a lot of detection problem and their signature are release a
long time after Pc-Cillin

PC-Cillin would be my choice.

Cheers

I'd say NOD32 without a doubt. I am *very* happy I decided to go with this
product after testing ALL the others. It has managed to find viruses even
NAV and Kaspersky have missed, and its VB100% record speaks for itself.

If a record 24 VB100% awards is a detection problem, and definition updates
once, if not twice daily is a "long time" after PC-Cillin's, then I'm the
pope living in the vatican holding S&M parties in my gimp dungeon.

Like that doesn't happen.......

LOL!! If you want anyone to take you seriously, you might want to post
from a different computer. Somehow, a posting touting the merits of
Trendmicro's Pc-cillin, coming from an IP address that traces back to
host43.trendmicro.fr, brings the term "conflict of interest" to mind.

That and the word "shill".

What a load of cobblers!

NOD32 updates virtually every day and, at the moment, two or three times
a day. What are these 'detection problems'?

Cheers,

Roy

I don't know if your newsfeed got the earlier post, but it's been determined
that ignorance is not his problem. He's shilling for Trend.

I've got it, and read it, now.

I might have guessed.

Cheers,

And how does that differ from the nymshits shilling NOD32 here all the
time?

Care to name those shills? Accusations without facts are rather
despicable.

As for myself, I'm just a happy user, but (and before you ask) I don't
*rely* on it, nor any other AV software.

You really should do something about all those bees buzzing around in
your bonnet.....

Cheers,

Roy
